Here at V2, we pride ourselves on helping to “green” the world of business meetings by doing what we do best – facilitating and managing online webcasts. This September, the V2 Crew is taking that idea a step further by participating in the Bicycle Transportation Alliance’s yearly Bike Commute Challenge, which encourages employees to bike to work as often as possible for the entire month.
As part of the BTA-sponsored challenge, employees log their miles per trip to work. The online profile allows you to view all the miles logged by your fellow teammates in addition the total miles logged by all companies participating. When you log your trips, you also get a snapshot of your personal and team stats as well as the CO2 emissions you have saved and the calories burned.
At the end of the month, the BTA tallies the bike trips and ranks all workplaces in size categories by the percentage of commutes completed by bike. Along the way, you are eligible to win all kinds of cool bike swag, and you also receive a 10% discount off parts and accessories at all participating Oregon and SW Washington bike shops through October 31. Simply print out your trip log after biking at least 7 trips, and you are eligible to get all the new gear you need to continue your environmentally friendly commute!
The V2 team is proud to announce 83% overall participation in our office so far with 75.1 miles logged. Our team includes seasoned riders and newbies alike (I am one of them!). We are very excited to put the rubber to the road as the leaves start to change, and fall fills the air. We’ll be posting pictures and updates throughout the month on the progress of the team. It’s never too late to sign up! Visit: http://bikecommutechallenge.com/ to register and put yourself to the challenge!
